Kevin Colling, D.C.

Dr. Colling is a chiropractor who recognizes that in addition to an organic cause, there is often a structural, chemical and emotional component to injuries and disease. When evaluating and treating his patients he uses function as the most important outcome marker. This allows him to see the big picture rather than isolating disease from the rest of the body.

Dr. Colling received his undergraduate degree from Menlo College where he played soccer and got his first exposure to what chiropractic can do for sports injuries and overall health. After graduating, Dr. Colling worked in the high tech industry and then moved on to a mountain bike company in Colorado. Eventually, he decided to follow his heart and moved to Portland, OR where he attended Western States Chiropractic College. While in school, Dr. Colling was a member of the Sports Medicine Club and the Biomechanics Club. He also attended nutrition, pediatrics, motion palpation and applied kinesiology seminars. Dr. Colling completed his internship at a sports injuries clinic where he gained valuable experience treating shoulder, knee, foot and spinal injuries.

Dr. Colling is certified in Graston Technique and Applied Kinesiology. Graston Technique is a soft tissue mobilization technique utilized by practitioners to break down scar tissue, increase fibroblast production and increase range of motion. The Applied Kinesiology certification taught Dr. Colling to look at the whole person when treating injuries, and to use function as the main outcome marker rather than focusing on just the symptoms of the injury. His latest area of continuing education is in functional manual reaction, based on the work of Gary Gray, PT and the Gray Institute of functional biomechanics. Functional manual reaction allows the patient to be actively involved in their treatment and it incorporates the essential fact that joints and muscles move in three planes of motion.

Dr. Colling believes it is important to collaborate with professionals in all areas of healthcare. He works closely with massage therapists, acupuncturists, naturopaths, nutritionists, MD’s, physical therapists and trainers.
